Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her first single was released for the label on Oct. 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to upload her music via the internet including her independently released single Bound. On July 21st, the 21st of July in 2015 Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes the track"Sweat It Out. J. Cole had her send her songs to the Dreamville Team later that year as he wanted Rihanna to collaborate alongside her on some of the songs. The announcement of her decision to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. The singer appeared on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October 21, 2016, she dropped her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018 she guest-starred in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. And Bas on Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. Then, in November, she released her singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she dropped No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It then came out as a stand-alone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. The music video premiered on 20 February 2019 to accompany the track. Within one time, it was viewed more than 3 million views. In support of the track, she toured in concert with 6LACK in December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
